I have a background in Exercise & Movement Science including holding a Bachelor of Science from the University of Queensland (Australia) where I majored in Functional Anatomy (Biomechanics) and Physiology.
I am an active member of the Tasmanian Masters Athletics and Newstead Athletics clubs competing in Track, Field and Cross country events. I am also very interested in Trail Running and founded Trail Running Tasmania as a means of developing this exciting outdoor recreational sport in Tasmania.
I am currently undertaking the training needed to gain accreditation with Athletics Australia to deliver the IAAF Nestlé Healthy Active Kids’ Athletics through the Sporting Schools program which allows primary school aged children to explore and develop the fundamental skills of running, jumping and throwing. I teach Kids Athletics in my local community of Bridport & North East Tasmania including to my own children who compete in Little Athletics Tasmania.
I hold a current Working with Children permit within Tasmania and have completed the Play By The Rules - Child Protection, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment - Certified Training programs as required by the Australian Sports Commission.
I have a special interest in Middle & Long Distance running and plan to progress my coaching accreditation through the national framework to become a specialist coach in these events. In order to progress my accreditation, my coaching activity is under the mentorship of Level 4 Coach, Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame inductee, dual Olympian and Commonwealth Games representative and Tasmanian Institute of Sport Head Athletics Coach Susan Andrews.
Please feel free to make contact with me to discuss your coaching needs.
